A new season is upon us & for makeup this means a switch up in our makeup textures and tones. Our skin texture is drier and paler so it's great to use cream blushes or liquids instead too. And now the summer tan has faded, those bolder pinks & rusty tones don't quite work so it's important to move to more peachy, neutral pinks & nudes tones to suit a lighter skin.
A big trend this season is highlighting so after blush it's important to finish with your favourite highlighter over the blush too to give our skin a little lift during the colder months.
Here's my winter blush edit for AW 2015...
1. Bourjois Cream Blush in Nude velvet, Rose Tender, Healthy Glow or Sweet Cherry
These heavenly little creamy pots of joy have been a staple in my kit for the last few seasons now because they look stunning on the skin (& lips!) They are great for a natural look & they never look like 'aunt sally' because they blend seamlessly. The shades are spot on for winter time too as they aren't too pigmented, which I find some cream blushes to be. They give a demi-matte texture so you know they won't slide off.
2. By Terry Cellularose Blush Glacé in Rose Melba$76
The perfect liquid blush for the drier &/or more mature skin. Gives a luminous, light reflecting look to the skin whilst soft focus particles smooth fine lines and any imperfections. As usual By Terry delivers more than just a bit of colour with her makeup; it always has incredible anti-ageing and skin enhancing qualities (hence the price tag).
3. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Incandescent, Diffused Heat or Mood Exposure $46
Your eyes are immediately drawn to the mineralised swirls in the pretty palette but the blush itself doesn't disappoint either. The effect of this blush is a matter version of a shimmer blush, so great for those who want a slight lift without looking sparkly. It's a powder without looking powdery & the shades are great for a subtle blush wearer (& paler skin).
4. Becca Mineral Blush in flower child or Wild Honey $43
This mineral blush gives a lovely sheer shimmery pop to the cheeks & these shades (flower child & wild honey) are the perfect fresh peach tones for winter. The beautiful packaging of Becca is always a plus too.
